The story of public art in Mansfield began in 2018, when community feedback sparked conversations about bringing a dedicated public art program to the city. Through years of research, planning, and advocacy, that vision took a major step forward in October 2023 with the adoption of Mansfield’s first Cultural Arts Master Plan, along with a Public Art Ordinance and supporting policies that established the foundation for the Mansfield Public Art Program.

Today, the Mansfield Public Art Program brings art into public spaces, strengthens Mansfield’s sense of place, and creates opportunities for residents and visitors to experience art as part of everyday life.

Public art builds civic pride, celebrates what makes a community unique, and helps turn the place where we live into a place that truly feels like home.

The Mansfield Public Art Program is primarily supported through a Percent for Art funding model, which allows the Mansfield City Council to dedicate up to 2% of eligible capital improvement project funds toward public art. This investment helps integrate art into the city’s continued growth while creating meaningful, lasting connections between art, community, and the places we share.
