Fast Facts About the Pickle Capital of Texas

Why is Mansfield the Pickle Capital of Texas?

Well, long story short…

All the way back in 1924 the Dalton family lived in Mansfield and ran a small grocery store in Ft. Worth. Looking to expand their offerings and support the family, Mildred Dalton began stocking the store with homemade pies, mayonnaise and eventually pickles grown right in their Mansfield garden. The name of these condiments and pickles would eventually become Best Maid.

Fast forward to 2012 and the Pickled Mansfield Society and the Pickle Queens launched and began putting on the annual St. Paddy’s Day Pickle Parade & Palooza to honor the town’s briny history. Now over 30,000 people hit the streets every March for the festival and parade.
