Join us for a nature-themed painting class at Oliver Nature Park featuring a Bumblebee. An artist will lead you step-by-step as you create your masterpiece. Saturday, August 5 - The LOT Downtown Featuring Chapter:SOUL 7:00pm
Chapter:SOUL is New Orleans' newest funk innovation A four-piece modern funk and soul band, Chapter:SOULS is a project from bandleader and tenor saxophonist Calvin Johnson, Jr. The band formed after Calvin spent many months of touring with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, trading ideas with sousaphonist, Kirk Joseph, and realizing it ws time for fresh ideas in the sound of New Orleans music. Calvin takes New Orleans funk and soul to a new level, with a combination of original compositions, and re-imagined soul-jazz classics.
Tuesday, August 8 - Summer Cinema Clubhouse 1:00pm
Join us at the Farr Best Theater for a showing of Storks. Cost is $1 per person, and children under the age of 2 are admitted free. No advance registration is required, and seating is limited. Doors open at noon, so get there early for a good seat! Concessions will be available for purchase.
Saturday, August 12 - The LOT Downtown Featuring The Tejas Brothers 7:00pm
When rock-n-roll meets Tex-Mex in a honky tonk that is home to the blues, you get the Tejas Brothers. This quartet absolutely disregards any notions of staying within a certain genre. Shows are family-friendly, and focus on the idea that we only live once, and we should all get the most out of life. In 2013, the Dallas Observer Music Awards named them the Best Country Act.
Thursday, August 17 - Third Thursdays Mansfield 5:00pm
Every third Thursday, Historic Mansfield comes alive starting at 5:00pm as participating businesses extend their shopping hours until 8:00pm. There will be vendors food trucks, entertainment, a 5K fun run, and parking is free. This month's them is "Back to School Jam" and will feature music at the Farr Best Theater, and fun, back-to-school activities. Each Saturday in August, 8:00am - 1:00pm, the Mansfield Farmers Market is open for business - offering local and organic produce, locally raised meats, arts and crafts, farm-fresh eggs, handcrafted cheeses, handmade soaps, jams and jellies, artisan wood and metal works, candles, plants and more!
